Your project is really interesting especially for me. :-) I believe technology tools will definitely bring the kids interests with the foreign language learning. When someone is surrounded by one kind of unfamiliar language, he/she will always try to grasp something with his/her own language to make him/her safe. For example, I always intend to translate the English words to Chinese when I am reading or listening (even though I know it is not a good habit). Sometimes, I would be more comfortable when I can express my thoughts in English with a technology tool such as blogs, videos and/or Podcasts. :-)

I think the students will definitely benefit from your Windows Movie project if they really participate the video shooting and final presentation.

Thank you bringing us this exciting project.

Frankly, I have never though of this part. During my WMM demo there I always tried to use as mush Chinese as possible. The students understand me well. I will pay more attention next time and see how I describe the problem.

Peicheng: Good post. I'm curious, though, about your work with the students in the weekend class: How do you explain concepts to them like rendering video or applying a sequence of effects--do you use these same terms or different terms? Doug mentioned describing a server as "a cloud in the sky"; do you find yourself using figurative language in the same way or no?

Thanks again for the comment and trouble shooting on my blog. I enjoyed your podcast and especially liked the way you transitioned using the volume of the music track. I never thought about doing that. It really kept up the flow and smoothed each transition. Thanks for the technique.

I really enjoyed your presentation on Windows Movie Maker. It was VERY organized and easy to understand - you had me completely sold until you mentioned the problems with Movie Maker freezing frequently! It's too bad a program that is so easy to use - due to the step-by-step toolbar on the side - has such a major flaw. It seems like it would be great for young students to use otherwise.
